FOXTON MEETING
CUP TO KENA. ROYAL MINSTREL SCORES IN KEBBELL MEMORIAL. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FOXTON, May 28. Fine weather prevailed at Awapuni for the Foxton Racing Club’s winter meeting on Saturday, and a good attendance saw Kena gain first place in the Foxton Cup, with Lady Montana third. A notable feature of the meeting was the success of the outsiders, and Glenvane the winner of the Whirokino Hack and Hunters’ Steeplechase was the only favourite to pass the post ahead of the rest. The Kebbell Memorial the second major event on the programme was won by Royal Minstrel who went to tne barrier tenth favourite.
The success of White Rajah piloted by A. Jenkins came somewhat as a surprise, as did Aurora’s Star’s victory in the Moutoa Hack Handicap, both these horses did not receive much of the public’s support. Kahui, who was first home in the Himatangi Hack Handicap was another who did not capture the punters fancy in spite of finishing well in the maiden race at Manawatu. Results are as follow: —
