CALEDONIAN SPORTS

WAIRARAPA SOCIETY'S ANNUAL GATHERING. Entries are coming to hand from many parts of New Zealand for the Wairarapa Caledonian Society’s annual gathering, which is to be held on the Park Oval, Masterton, on Monday. January 2. Late entries will be received until Friday, December 30. In the event of the weather being.unfavourable the dancing and • piping events will bo hold in the Opera House. Among these events is the North Island championship slow march (piping) and the North Island championship Highland Fling (for competitors 16 years and over). Amateur running, cycling and field events will also be decided, besides am ambulance competition for the Hessey Shield. The one mile Wairarapa championship cyclo contest is expected to be keenly competed.

The gathering is set down to commence at 12.30 p.m. and patrons, judging by the wide range of classes, will find good entertainment during the afternoon.
