SECOND ELEVEN GREYTOWN v, DALEFIELD.

On Saturday last the second eleven of the Greytown Club proceeded to Dalefield to play a friendly game, and were victors by 9 runs. Beechy captained Dalefield, Webster captaining Greytown. Neither side made large scores, both being pretty evenly matched J. Jackson made the top score of the day by somo free hitting, 21, not out- The match was a very fan* one, and the only drawback was a slight shower of rain, which fall when the Dalefield men went to the wickets, which caused the ball to T, ather slippery for the visitors. J. Judd bowled well for his side, his analysis showing that he bowled 12 wickets for 17 runs in 31 overs, 17 of which were maidens; G. a -kson took 6 for 17; Wakelin 1 for 4. C the Dalefield trundlers, Moore sent wu some very fine overs, seeming 10 . ckets for 26 runs; Beechy, who is a good bowler, getting 7 for 25 ; Biddell, 3 1 ■■ 5. The second innings of Greytown only required 13 overs to be sent down. No less than 18 “ ducks eggs ” were contributed during the match. The bowling and fielding of Greytown was good all through; so also was that oi Dalefied At the latter part of the game it looked as though Dalefield would win, they only requiring 17 or 18 runs, Firman and Chew making a good stand. The Greytown men were provided with lunch and tea on the ground, and were much pleased with their reception. The match was the closest of the season. The following are the scores .
