Featherston.
SOIREE AT FEATHBBSTON. On Monday night a moat successful and enjoyable soiree took place at the Oddfellows' Hall, Featherston, in aid of the building land. The Committee deserve every credit for their excellent arrangements, and they were indeed rewarded for their perseverance by the presence of a most sociable company of about 30 or 35 couples. Mr A. Donald acted as M.C. with great success, and Messrs J. H. Parker and Lundqvist supplied some excellent music. Mr W. H. Speakman supplied the refreshments, which it is needless to say were of the very best quality, and everything combined to make the event as one long to be remembered by those present with fadings of pleasure. FEATHERSTON RACING CLUB. The Featherston Racing Club intend shortly to publish a most attractive pros gramme for their next New Year’s Day meeting at Tauherenikau. We believe the programme which is now to be submitted to the Wellington Racing Club will be one that is calculated to entice some of the best racing blood yet assembled in tbe district, and if the day proves fine it is probable tbit this, to many, favorite course will resume its usual active appearance upon the occasion. At Tanherenikau at the present time, there are a number of well-known racers, and training for the several forthcoming events is being carried on in the usual business like, and skilful manner. There is every probability of this essentially sporting district of the Wairatapa being this year even more lively in racing and sporting matters than formerly.
