BAD STATE OP THE SCOTTISH WHEAT CROP. RAPID TRADE REVIVAL PREDICTED DISTRESS AMONG THE WORKING CLASSES. Lohuon, October 20. Lieut-General Sir Herbert Maepberson, Commander of the British forces in Burmah, died to-day of fever, at Frome, on the Irrawaddy. October 21. It is estimated that half the Scottish wheat crop is hopelessly damaged. Lord Derby, speaking at Liverpool, pre« dieted an early and rapid revival in trad*. It is expected that General Sir Frederick Roberts, Commander-in chief .in India, wiU succeed the late Sir Herbert Maepberson in the command of the British expedition in Burmah.
Mr Hyndmau, one of the Socialist leaden, has written a letter to .the paper* stating that great distress prevails among the working classes, and the proposed procession of unemployed on the 9tb proximo is the only means of compelling the attention of tha authorities to the distress.
