The idea seemed to find favor with some officers and members of the Gieylowu Company who happened to lie .-resent, and it was thought that the Greytown Company when asked would generally approve of the movement. Several Carterton men have also expressed an opinion that their company would most probably be pleased to

take part. Providing the matter can be arranged to the satisfaction of all the Wairurapa Corps, Colonel Butts promised to attend specially to put the batallion through their drill, The Featherston Uiflo Volunteers under Captain A. Donald had an excellent muster for inspection parade on Friday night. The Corps had only four men short of their full strength present. A good few new members have been enrolled during the last month Colonel Butts examined several of the Wairarapa officers for their commissions and the results in every case are expected to prove satisfactory.
