The Charges Against an Insurance Agent.
The following is the substance of tbe informations laid against Mr John Stuart Reid, of Wellington 1. That ou the ISthuif March, 1885, and on divers occasions between that date and 16th April, 188<J, being agent for the United Insurance Company, he converted to his own use £792 7s 7d, entrusted to him by the Company, in violation of good faith and contrary to direction to pay the amount into the Bank of New South Wales, Wellington. 2. The same charge differently Stated, .1. That on the 4th September, 1885, being employed as clerk or servant to the United Insurance Company he received £250 and fraudulently embezzled the same. 4. That be converted the same £250 to his own use. 6. That on the BOth November, 1885, ho embezzled the sum of £2OO. the' properly of the United Insurance Oompanv. The summonses are returnable on the lOtli May. The proceedings have, it is understood, been taken at the instance of Mr T; M. Ttuley, the General Manager of the Company (the head quarters of which arc in Sydney) who has recently been in Wellington.—Rosi'
