“Refuse.”
To the Editor of t?e Standard. Sir,,—ln reading your reoort of the Greytown Borough Council meeting in last issue, I notice a resolution passed, in which the Inspector of Nuisances is requested to take steps to prevent storekeepers and others from throwing refuse in the streets. I am at a loss to know what the mover of the resolution means by the word “ refnst-.'' I am in the habit of going part daily, and I have failed to notice any waste matter lying about ; perhaps he refers to a certain amount of paper lying on the road which school children, after eating their lunch, throw away, or persona coming out of various stores disposing of the same article in a like manner. I for one think our Councillors have little to complain of in the way of refuse in our streets compared with other townshipc ; perhaps they are in want of something t6 bring forward. If they were in the townships more during the day-time they might see that obstructions in the share of sundry piles and blocks were cleared oil' the footpath. Perhaps, this is the storekeepers’ refuse meant. When they want to find fault with the Main Street refuse let them move that the overseer remove the grass, &o. I am, dc., Justice,
