OBITUARY

MR JAMES R. MURDOCK. The fast-diminishing ranks of pioneer settlers of the Northern King Country were further depleted on the 6th inst., when Mr J. R. Murdock, of Whawharua, died at the homestead of the holding lie had taken up in the virgin forest some 30 years ago. The deceased was highly thought of by all with whom he came in contact during his long sojourn at Whawharua. He was 69 years of age, and is survived by his wife and an adult family of five —two sons and three daughters. The sons are Mr S. Murdock (Whawharua), Mr A. J. Murdock (Cambridge) ; and the daughters Mrs W. H. Evans (Rotorua), Mrs H. Martin (Te Aroha), and Miss E. Murdock, of Whawharua.
