GIRL'S SCALP TORN OFF
CAUGHT IN BELTING. An exceedingly painful accident occurred on Wednesday morning, involving a young girl in injuries that may possibly result in pennanent disfigurement. The girl i s Miss May Munro, the sixteen-year-old daughter of Mr and Mrs D. J. Munro, of Te Rahu Road. It appears that the girl was assisting in the milking shed, and by some mischance her hair became caught in the belting that drives the milking plant. Before she could get lji(ee, or assistance be rendered, a large part of her scalp was torn right off. The injured girl was carried to her home, and medical aid summoned. First-aid was rendered, and then she was refmioved to a private hospital, where the scalp was sewn on again. Inquiry later gave the information that thpugh the injury is extensive and painful, the girl's condition is quite satisfactory, and hopes are entertained that the operation will be completely successful.
