The engagement is announced of Alma Esther May, daughter of Mr and Mrs Colin John Riddle, "Willowbrook," Aria, to George Ngatai Hetet, only son of Mr and Mrs D'Arcy Jones, of Aria, and late cf Priongia.
Mr W. J. Holdsworth, chairman of the Auckland Electric Power Board, is visiting Te Awamutu this afternoon.
Mr A. S. Richards, M.P. for Roskill, who delivered an address at Pirongia last evening on Labour's aims, left for. Auckland this morning by the Main Trunk express.
Mr and Mrs Mawston, of Ohinewai, are staying with Miss Makepeace, Parawera.
Mr Jas. Paterson, of Waihi, is visiting Te Awamutu as the guest of Mr and Mrs T. P. Wing, Frontier Road.
Mr J. E. Ray, managing director of the N.Z. Tung Oil Corportion and a well-known Auckland business man, is visiting Te Awamutu.
A popular young lady, Miss V. Bacon, was accorded a surprise party last Tuesday evening prior to her departure to reside In Otahuhu. During the function, which was held at the residence of Mrs S. Hallett, Park Road, Miss Bacon was presented with a lovely crystal cruet set, with best wishes from her many friends.
