ACCIDENT AT PICTURE THEATRE (By Telegraph. Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. At the Supreme Court, Robert Eagle, a labourer, sued the New Zealand Picture Supplies Ltd. for £750 as damages for injuries received through falling into the cellar of the Grand Picture Theatre. He attended the pictures and admittedly dozed in his seat. Getting up he opened a door that he thought led to the lavatory, and he fell into the cellar. His injuries included the loss of the sight of one eye. The defence was that plaintiff was intoxicated and used a door obviously not intended for the use of the public. The case is proceeding. £375 AWARDED. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The jury awarded £375 damages to Robert Eagle, who claimed £750 from the Zealandia Picture Supplies Ltd. for injuries received by falling into a cellar at the Grand Picture Theatre.
