YOUNG DISAPPEARANCE
WELLINGTON, This Day. A boat 'was picked up near the Heads, containing a pocket, book, a 'watch, and other personal articles. In the book was a request to return the boat to the 'owner,' E. W. Heath, of Worser Bay. 'The book also contained a letter, apparently written by Constantine Graham, a single .woman, aged 26 years, who was until recently employed in the City Council rates office. The letter suggested that the writer was in difficulties. SHOCKING ACCIDENT. / WELLINGTON, This Day. An accident on the wharf inflicted serious injuries to a little girl named Phyllis Dean, nine years of age. A piece of steel projecting from a lorry caught her on the neck and crushed her against a shed. Her throat was badly gashed, and she is in a serious condition. MAN FOUND DEAD. DANNEVIRKE, This Day. The body of a man with his throat cut was found lying in a paddock near Princess Street. The body had apparently been there for some time. Deceased has been identified as George Beck, latterly of Palmerston North, and formerly of Waione. He was a middle-aged, single man.
