MARGARINE WEEK.
SUBSTITUTE, FOR DEAR BUTTER
The better the demand for margarine, the greater becomes the call for our dried milk, so the following item is of exceptional interest to farmers in the Te Awamutu and adjacent districts. Under the heading of. "Margarine Week," the following appears in the London Times of March 28th. "In view of the fact that butter prices are advancing, it is interesting to note that the present week is to be made a 'Margarine Week' in London and the suburbs. Most of the principal Westend stores, as well as the suburban provision shops, have arranged special displays of English margarine, among them being Selfridge's, Whiteley's, Barker's, Army and 'Navy Stores, and Haymarket Stores. Samples will be distributed with the object of pointing out to the housewife that the best English margarine is a satisfactory alternative to dear butter. The margarine market at Smithfield has been extremely active during the last two or three days, as the result of inquiries from all over the country, and difference in the cost of margarine and butter having -stimulated the public demand."
