RECENT iSALE PRICES,

At Te Awamutu on Saturday the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company had a very heavy yarding of cattle, 1347 being penned; sheep and pigs were also in full supply. There was little demand for <beef and grown steers, but 18-month to 21year steers sold readily; also store and fresh-condition cows and heifers in calf. A large entry of weaners met a slack market. Fat steers made £5 10s to £6 7s 6d, medium fat cows £3 8s to £3 15s, cows in forward condition £2 to £2 lis, fresh cows £1 9s to £1 16s, store cows 15s to £1 7s, 2| to 3-year steers £3 15 s to £4 3s, 2-year steers £2 18s to £3 ss, 18-month steers £1 17s to £2 6s, 15-month steers £1 9s to £1 14s, weaner steers 13s to £l, weaner Jersey heifers £3 7s to £3 15s, Shorthorn weaner heifers 17s M. to £1 4fl, 2-year Shorthorn heifers in calf £4 7s 6d to £5, 15 to 18-month empty heifers £1 12s to £2 6s, bulls £1 to £llss, dairy cows £4 to £7/fat 2-tooth wethers £1 2s, 2-tooth ewes £1 Is, mixed-sex 2tooth 14s 6d to 18s, forward wethers 15s, ewes 10s, lambs 12s; no store sheep sold. Weaner pigs made 9s to 12s, fat porkers 35s to £2. The Loan and Mercantile Agency Company held its annual sheep fair at Pio Pio on Thursday, when a record yarding came forward, the number of sheep being estimated at over 20,000. The sale opened with very slack competition, but later buyers showed moer interest, and about, midway through the sale nearly all ewes and lambs sold at satisfactory prices; wethers were practically neglected. We offered 3800 sheep. Four-tooth fat and forward wethers made 14s 5d to 16s, 2tooth wethers 13s 3d to 15s, 4-tooth to full-mouth ewes 12s lOd to 14s 4d, full-mouth ewes 7s lOd to 9s lid, good woolly lambs 10s 6d to 13s 2d, medium lambs 6s to 9s 6d, cull lambs 3s 6d to 5s lOd.
