CHRISTCHURCH, Monday

A remarkable performance was accomplished in a primary schools' cricket match in Aalhburton on Saturday, when Hamstead school played Ashburton Borough .school in the county schools' competition. The borough side won the toss, and elected to bat, but was dismissed without scoring a run. Two Hamstead bowlers "ran through" the side in five overs, L. Beauvois taking six wickets in three, and C. Broker four wickets .in two overs. Hamstead declared their first innings closed at 71 runs for three wickets?, and the borough school team were dismissed for 15 runs in the second innings. This time Beauvois took four wickets for 2 runs, and another bowler, Brown, three for none. Both sides had full elevens. Hamstead's performance in dismissing the opposing side without runs being scored is believed to be a record in primary schools cricket. "Wisden's Almanac" says there are over 60 instances! of teams being dismissed without scoring a run in minor matches. TE AWAMUTU A V.
