BREACH OF PROMISE.
ALLEGED BY BEAUTY SPECIALIST £IO,OO ASKED FOR.

WELLINGTON, Monday
In the Supreme Court this morning, before Mr Justice Hosking and a jury of twelve, a breach of promise action, Eileen Frances Tate versus George Winder, was commenced. Plaintiff, who was formerly in business here as a beauty specialist, claims £IO,OOO. Mr Wilford appears for the plaintiff, and Mr Gray, K.C., with Mr Watson, for the defendant. The statement of claim sets out that plaintiff and defendant agreed in June last to marry; that plaintiff had stold her business, stock and goodwill in the following month; that she had spent £IOO in purchasing clothing suitable for a wedding; and that in November Winder refused to go on with the wedding. Her claim is made up of £IOOO damages for loss) on the sale of her business, £IOO in respedt of trousseau, and £B9OO for loss of marriage and injury to her feelings. The case is proceeding.
