FOUR ENGINES BADLY DAMAGED

WELLINGTON, Monday

By a fire in the engine shed at Cross Greek, at the foot of the Rimutaka Incline, four engines were badly damaged, and it will be some months before they can be repaired. The shed was destroyed, also a quantity of stores. Some brake vans were saved. The origin of the fire is unknown. There will be no dislocation of traffic, as replacements were secured from Napier and other stations.
