BREAKING AND ENTERING.
ARRESTS AT WHAN'GAREI
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) WHANGARHI, Monday. On Thursday evening the general store at Poroti was broken into, the till was rifled, and a quantitiy of goods, consisting of boots, etc., valued at about £B, was stolen. Smart work by the Whangaref police led to an arrest yesterday, with the recovery of a portion of the stolen property. In this connection a Maori named William Edward Heta was formally charged at the Magistrate \ Court on Saturday with breaking and entering, and was remanded on bail of £l5O. Following up further clues, the police to-day arrested another suspect, who is understood to be a cousin of the above-named defendant, with the , result that more stolen goods were recovered.
