Mr A. H. Vile, who has belen editor of the Wairarapa Age for the past ten years, has been appointed associate editor of the Manawatu Times. He is a brother of Mr F. H. Vile, of Te Awamutu. > \
Miss Ethel Rees, sister of Mrs! D. M. C. Mcßurney, who recently reached New Zealand from England has taken up her residence in Te Awamutu. Miss Rees was for two years with the British army nursing service, stationed at Salonika.
Sergeant Doyle, in charge at Te Awamutu, resumed duties to-day after a spell of three months’ illness. He underwent an operation in a private hospital at Wellington, ano has returned looking and feeling much the better for his ordeal.
Mr G. A. Empson, chief postmaster of the Thames postal district, retired on superannuation on Saturday, after having been for 47 years in charge of various post offices in both islands. He intends with Mrs. Empson to come to reside at once at Te Awamutu where he owns property. Mr S. A. Empson, dentist, 1 of this town, is his son. Mr Empson, senr., has had a noted cai'eer in the postal service, which the Thames newspaper recently devoted a column of its space in narrating.
