The right to cut and "■-’ove timber, estimated to consist of 22.362,000 super fie’".l feet, was offered at pul !:c auction at the sitting of the Wellington Land Board recently. There were five milling areas concerned, and the timber comprised totara, matai, rimu. miro, and kaliikatea. There was a representative attendance of millers hut not a single hid, apparently on account of the stringency of the financial market.
