MAGISTRATE’S COURT.

' BAD LANGUAGE COSTS £5.
For using obscene language “after the pictures were over” on the 29th January last, at Sloane Street, Te Awainutu, John Patrick McGaughie, who pleaded guilty, was fined £5 and costs 7/. .
Constable Rushton, who gave evidence in support of the charge, said that that when the language complained of was used, the accused was excited and wanted to fight. It was stated it was his first offence. An Oliaupo Case. Francis James Corrigan, farmer of Ohaupo, who voluntarily consented to a prohibition order against himself in August last, 'and who was charged with being found on licensed premises at Te Awamutu on the 12th January, (by a statement made to the police), pleaded guilty to the charge. Constable Rushton, who prosecuted, read a statement made by the accused to the effect that he was very busy on the farm and asked for the case to be dealt with in his absence! A. fine of £5 was imposed, and 10/ costs. Civil Business.
Judgment was giiven to plaintiff by default in the following claims:— W. F. Lees (Mr Hawkins) v. A. O’Meara £l4, costs £2 17/; V. Campbell (Mr. Downes) v. F. Perfect, £8 10/6, costs £1 15/6; F. McFlinn (Mr Hawkins) v. J. Heke, £9 7/2, costs £2 5/6. Judgment summons: —W. G. Moon and fco. (Mr Downes) v. F. Stokes, claim £47 14/6. There was no appearance of the 1 defendant, who was ordered to pay the amount forthwith, the default being fixed at 48 days’ imprisonment.
