There was a large attendance at the Patriotic Concert held in the Town Hall on Friday last. The items were all very much enjoyed, and many encores had to be responded to. The stage was charmingly arranged with tent, camp fire, etc., with the Boy Scouts sitting round. The following rendered items :—■ Mrs Bedford and Miss Price; Messrs P. Fredric (instrumental and vocal), E. A. Chamberlain, Smith, O. Price Owen, Flannigan, and J. Rule. The following also took part: Cora Nilmes (England), Dolly Wood (Ireland), Jean Gibson "(Scotland), and Olive Fairs (New Zealand). The accompanists were Miss Price and Mr Fredric. A sum of over £9 was added to the Patriotic Fund. Miss Ellesmere, of Wellington, who is spending a holiday here, met with a sad misfortune on Sunday. Just as she was about to get into a buggy she slipped on the footpath and broke her leg just about the ankle. Dr. Henderson was sent for and set the injured limb.
