(Own Correspondent.)
•The mild weather experienced lately has had a most beneficial effect on the grass, which is coming away nicely, and soon there will be plenty of feed for the stock. Dairying is making active progress and soon the factory will be running every day. Several farmers have suffered losses with their stock, one man having already lost three valuable cows.
Complaints have been made of shootists strolling over the farms and leaving all gates open, the stock then wandering out over the hills, and it is most annoying to find that some one has shot your best cow instead of a rabbit; as has happened more than once. The Patriotic Concert by the Pirongia "Pickles" is to take place on Friday, and a v large crowd is anticipated. Rehearsals have been the order of the day, and the marching of the soldiers and the sailors shows careful training. An energetic committee has been formed to look after the refreshments, which are to be provided by the ladies. Mrs Aley has returned from the hospital and is on the high road to recovery. Mrs Fear and Mr Norman Fear,ai?e visiting Hamilton. Mr Algy, who had the misfortune to/break his collar bone, is well as may be expected.
