A large number of Te Awamutu residents journeyed to Hairini on Friday evening, where a most enjoyable dance was held in the hall. The floor was in excellent condition. Dancing was kept up till about 2.30. Everything augurs well for the successful production of the cantata, “Britannia and her Daughters.” The cast contains the leading soloists and performers of Te Awamutu. The conductor has also been busy training the school children. A full orchestra is shortly to commence practice. The whole of the proceeds of the cantata will be devoted towards the proposed technical school.
