A private telegram received at Te Awamutu this morning conveys the information that the Piako hockey team has defaulted in the White Horse Cup competition.
Mr Blackman, in his report on the conduct of the gas works, to the Hamilton Borough Council, stated he had considerable difficulty in procuring coal, and the various rises in price since the Council took over the works two years ago amounted to an increased expenditure of £2OO per annum.
