FOOTBALL.

A committee meeting of the Te Awamutu Rugby Football Club was held in Luks' hotel on Saturday evening. There was a full attendance, Mr E. Clarke being in the chair.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Mr J. Edwards drew attention to the fact that no meeting of the Waipa Rugby Union had been called, and that the season was getting on, He thought that an effort should be made to induce Otorohanga to join the Waipa Union, especially as better train arrangements were now in force.

After some discussion it was proposed that the secretary of the Waipa Union be written to asking when it was proposed to hold the Union's annual meeting, and to advise all delegates of the same; also to ask what likelihood there was of Otorohanga joining the Union. The question of encouraging the younger players to join the club was discussed, it being pointed out that there was plenty of material to choose from. The chairman was of opinion that until a meeting of the Union took place nothing definite could be done.

It was proposed that a match be arranged with the telegraph linesmen, to take place next Saturday, and that all intending players be invited to be present. It was agreed that the committee meet next Saturday, and that the secretary notify all members to that effect.
