WAIPA GUN CLUB.
BALLISTITE CUP RETAINED BY TE AWAMUTU. • The shoot for the Baliistite Cup (held by the Wa-ipa Gun Club) took place on Wednesday afternoon between .the Te.Aroha Gun Club and the Waipa Gun Club. The weather was favourable and the attendance fair. Mr PI. R. Hogg acted as official scorer. There was some good shooting by both teams, the local men eventually winning by 71 to 61. Johnson 3 Burrows 5 .61 At the conclusion of the above, a trophy presented by Messrs Phillips and Impey (through Messrs Wheeler and Irvine) was competed for, and resulted as follows : —PI. McSweeney 3, L. Garland 4, G.Petley 5, B. Wheeler 4, J. Whitton 3, L. Tones 4, R. Benzie 3, W. Bell 2, A. McMurray 5, H. Grattan 8, H. Jull 3, B. Campbell 4, W. J. Sweeney 2, T. Grattan 9, P. McSweeney, 3, G. Pollard 4. In the shoot-off between T. Grattan and H. Grattan the latter won. The final shoot of the day was for a sweepstake, which Mr B. C. Wheeler won. Scores : —J. Whitton 5, W. Bell 3, L. Jones 8, H. McSweeney 3, B. Campbell 4, B. Wheeler 12, McMurray II; Grattan, Wallace, Garland, and Burrows retired.
In the evening the visitors were entertained by the local club at a dinner in Luks’ Commercial Hotel, an enjoyable evening being spent..
