WAIPARI.

(Own Correspondent),

[t is pleasing to note that new settlers are steadily coming into the block. Among the new arrivals are Messrs McDonald and Gooder, from the Gisborne district, who have a very good opinion of the country here as compared with that they have left. The road-works are making good progress, over two miles of work now being undertaken. Master Nateske is now slightly better, though not yet out of danger. Settlers are reminded of the meeting to be held on the 27th inst., and a large attendance looked forward to. Among other things to-be discussed arc roads and rent; also several matters of general interest to settlers in the block.

The weather is fine and rain is badly needed on the new burns.
