KIHIKIHI.

(Own Correspondent.) A public meeting was held in the Town Hall on Tuesday evening to consider the proposal to raise a loan of £2OOO, to be spent upon improvements to the roads and footpaths. Mr Elmsly presided, and read correspondence from Mr Fraser (Minister for Public Works) re granting the loan. Several present spoke of the importance of the proposal and the urgent need of the money. A resolution proposed by Mr W. Thomson and seconded by Mr S. Temple, in favour of raising the loan, was carried unanimously.

Despite the inclemency of the weather upon many occasions, the weekly productions of Hayward's Pictures have been well attended, and when favourable weather prevail?, the audiences have been highly gratifying to the proprietors. Mr P. Herlihy's many friends in and around Kihikihi will be pleased to learn that he is now making very satisfactory progress from his recent severe illness.
