OHAUPO.
(Own Correspondent.)
It is gratifying to the people of this district to observe that the sum of £I7OO appears on the estimates for the erection of a post office at Ohaupo. This sum should erect a substantial building, and no doubt effect will be given to the desire of the public for improved telephone facilities. The present arrangements are very far from satisfactory. Another case of diphtheria is V reported in the family of Mr T. Humby. It is considered that a visit from the. Health Officer would do no harm. The sanitary arrangements in the township would not stand close inspection. The large amount of sickness which has occurred in the district during the year should act as an incentive to the people of Ohaupj to endeavour to secure a resident doctor. This desirable end might easily be attained by the residents combining, as is done in some other districts, to forma medical club. Such an arrangement makes it possible for an individual to secure medical attention at a moderate cost, so that when a run of sickness attacks a family the medical expenses would not be the heavy burden they now are.
