LAWN TENNIS CLUB.

A general meeting of the Club was held at Victoria Park on Saturday afternoon, about a dozen members being present. The chair was taken by Mr G. Archibald. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. President. \ It was proposed by Mr Cox and seconded by Mr Cruickshank that Dr. Reekie be president of the Club. The motion was carried with acclamation. In accepting the position Dr Reekie made a short speech thanking the members for tlih honour they had done him and stated that he hoped they would all co-operate with him in the endeavour to close the season free from debt. New Members. The following new members were elected, —Mrs Jeffery, Miss Lodge, Mr W. Bond. Opening Day. Much regret was expressed that the inclement weather had' necessitated the postponment of the opening day. and on the motion of Mr Gabriel, seconded by Dr Reekie it was resolved that the courts be at once .declared open for play, and that the opening day be postponed until the completion of the new pavilion in about a months time. The meeting then closed and the President formally declared the courts open. _
