It was decided to write urging upon the Traffic Manager (Auckland district) the urgent need for improvements to the Otorohanga station.
Proposed that an effort be made to secure a letter delivery in the town. The proposal was rejected, as the fees for post office boxes would be raised from 10s to 20s should a letter-carrier be appointed. It was reported that Messrs Hosking and Ormsby jnr. had journeyed to Wellington in connection with the Kawhia mail contract. Rumour has it that Te Awamutu and Pirongia districts are agitating for the continuance of the mail service over the old route, notwithstanding the fact that the Otorohanga tender is over £BO lower. It was ultimately resolved to ask the chief postmaster, Auckland, if the rumour is correct, and to wire the two delegates authorising them to. act on behalf of the Chamber. _
Notice of motion was given to alter the rule so as to make members .of the Town Council eligible for election to the Chamber’s executive. It was resolved that the Town Council be urged to declare Otorohanga a separate district under the Shops and Offices Act, so as to deal with the half-holiday q ucstion.^^^^_
