POLO.

The polo season at Te Awamutu was officially opened on Wednesday last. About 120 spectators assembled at the Greenhill polo grounds which was fitting evidence of the interest taken in polo matters at Te Awamutu. Some 15 local players took part and some very fast games resulted. The opening game between Kay Bros (4) and Teasdale Bros (2) and Taylor Bros (2) went in favour of the latter team after a hard fought contest. This, as were all the following games was closely watched by an enthusiastic and mo-t interested body of spectators. Mr. E. Moeller acted as referee. Afternoon tea was provided by the ladies', and after this had been partaken of Dr Gribbin, in an appropriate speech on behalf of the club, thanked the ladies for the hospitality extended to the members.

It was not until 7 pmi. that the playing was brought to a close, and the party dispersed.
