KIHIKIHI PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH CONCERT.
The postponed annual concert of the’ Kihikihi Presbyterian Church took place in the Town Hall last evening. The programme proved creditable alike to promoters and performers. It was opened by a selection from the Bedford orchestra, whose opening item and that contributed later in the evening received well-merited applause. Mr G. Galloway sang “The Postillion,” and, as an encore, gave “The Skipper.” Later in the evening he contributed Thy Sentinel Am I.” The cornet solos of Mr W. J. Dii fully deserved the appreciation they received. Mrs Wooliass sang Jude’s “Better Land” with excellent taste, and Mrs Andrew contributed “A Song of Sleep.” The numbers of Miss E. Galloway of Auckland, proved of exceptional interest. Both her solos were rewarded with encores. Mr R. P. de Ridder’s playing of la is two pianoforte solos revealed a good sense of musical values Mrs (Dr) Henderson presided at the piano, and in no small degree contributed to the success of the individual performances by the excellence of her work. In addition she joined with Mrs Andrew in a tasteful rendering of the duet, “ When the Wind Blows in from the Sea.” Of the Kihikihi contributors, it is sufficient to say that they well maintained the standard set by the other performers. Mr O. P. Owen sang in good voice, and in addition gave a series of sketches with chalk and blackboard. Messrs Goodison and Bedford rendered a ’cello duet in good style. Mrs Teague gave a Lancashire reading. Miss M. Ashby recited “The Slave Who Saved St. Michaels.” A successful evening came to a close by the singing of the National Anthem,
