The returned soliders are certainly experiencing bad luck in connection with their provincial picnic, scheduled to be held on Coronation Park. Last year, just when all preparations had been completed, the infantile paralysis epidemic broke out and all public gathering's had to be abandoned. This year all arrangements had been made to get the event off on February fitli. After a long spell of dry weather heavy rain fell a few days before and flooded the ground, necessitating a postponement to yesterday. However, rain again upset calculations. At a meeting of the committee on Friday it was decided to coneel the function for the time being. On Saturday the outlook was more promising and an endeavor was made to carry on, but it was found that the Railway Department could not make the necessary arrangements for special trains. And, of course, the weather yesterday was beautifully fine. A meeting of the local committee is to he held this evening to decide whether the picnic shall be abandoned for this year or an attempt be made to hold it at a later date.
