PERSONAL ITEMS.

Foreman Carne, of the AA’aipawa Volunteer Fire Brigade, left on Saturday for New Plymouth, where he will represent the brigade at the 59th annual conference of the United Fire Brigades’ Association of New Zealand. Among others, he is to be the recipient of the Association’s Gold Star, having completed 25 years ’ service, all of which has been served with the AA’aipawa Brigade. Mr J. Pender, one of the victims of the Kopuawhara disaster, was at one time in the employ of the AA’aipukurau branch of the Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Co-op, Association. AA’hilst residing in the sister town he took an active interest in the social life of the community, and was a frequent performer at the koreros of the AA’aipawa Savage Club. Sincere sympathy will go out to the bereaved familv.
