BY-ELECTION.
MR JOSEPH CRAIG ELECTED. A considerable amount of interest was taken yesterday in the by-election to fill the vacancy on the Borough Council created by the resignation of Ur. Tricklebank. The supporters of both candidates worked hard, and there was a steady stream of voters to the booth. The poll closed at 7 o’clock, and the result was announced by the returning officer, Mr E. J. o”Brien, before 7.30, as follows: Joseph Craig 215 Janies Douglas Smith .. 165 Informal 3 Total votes polled .. .. 383
