A stock-driver who has for many years driven sheep and cattle on the roads about. Hawke’s Bay informs us that it is not only tho shearers that are suffering from reduced wages. Stockmen who used to get 15s Gd a day and found are now compelled to take 35s a week and found, and they have to provide their own horse and dogs. The cricket match Australians v Wellington, has been taking place yesterday and to-day. The local men went in yesterday, and succeeded in kuockig up a score of 182. The visitors are doing better than that. They went to the wickets at 12.15 to-day, Palmer and Jones doing the batting, These two seem to be warriors, and intend to teach our fellows a lesson in the noble game, for they had by 3 o’clock raised the score to 90 with no wickets down.
