Wellington, This day. Tho game was resumed at 12. 15.p.m., Palmer and Jones batting, and Dryden and Lawson bowling. The attendance was from 300 to 400, and a strong Nor’ wester is still blowing. Both batsmen made some hard cuts which were well fielded, Jones hit Dryden to square leg over the ropes, just out of jloodcr’s reach. He then drove Lawson hard to the fence for 5, but ran 1 short. Jones played well bowling very neatly on the leg side and obtained several singles in that direction. The fielding of tho same men near the wickets was rather loose, and several hits wero allowed to pass which should have been .stopped. Palmer jumped out to Lawson and hit hit him to the fence, bringing 30 up, and McGirr was put on in place of Lawson. Nieholls then had a easy chance of stumping Jones, which ho lust through not taking the ball. In the next over appealed fur the catch, which was on the wicket, but did not displace the bails. A few singles, and 50 was up. Jones then Lit Dryden over the lunch tent for 4. At lunch when score was 55 for no wickets, Jones 30, Palmer 25. 3 p.m. Tho score at 3 o’clock was 90, for no wickets. Palmer missed twice in long field, and Jones once.
