OBITUARY
MR H. ST. J. CHRISTOPHERS DEATH IN EIGHTY-NINTH YEAR
The death occurred at Cambridge on Sunday of Mr Henry St. John Christophers, a well-known and highly esteemed resident. He was born in Cornwall, England, in February, 1851, and was in his 89tli year when he died. He was the elder son of Dr John Crowch Christophers. The late Mr Christophers came to New Zealand over 60 years ago. He was District Engineer of Railways in the Westland, Marlborough, Nelson, and Wanganui districts for 25 years. He retired 36 years ago and engaged himself in sheep farming, first at Gisborne and later in. the Bay of Plenty. He came to Cambridge 16 years ago, where he lived in retirement until his death. In 1879 Mr Christophers married Miss Olive Elizabeth Owen, of Wanganui, who predeceased him in 1915. He is survived by three sons, one daughter, nine grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
MRS ELIZA JANE CARSON The death on Sunday, at her residence, Roto-o-rangi, of Mrs Eliza Jane Carson, wife of Mr James Carson, aged 76 years. She came to New Zealand in 1926, since when she has resided in. the Cambridge district. The late Mrs Carson is survived by her husband and three sons and one daughter. They are Messrs William Carson, of Belfast, Ireland, Robert Carson, of Roto-o-rangi, Harry Carson, of Pukeknra, and Mrs Clayton, of New Jersey, U.S.A. There are eight grand-children.
