Growth of Mushrooms. —Mushrooms have not been very plentiful so far this season, Cambridge paddocks yielding only small quantities. Supplies are increasing, however, and there may be a late growth after the dry summer.

Centennial Arrangements. A public meeting will be held in the Council Chamber tonight for the purpose of forming a local committee to deal with centennial arrangements in Cambridge. It is hoped that there will be a large attendance. Dislikes Civilisation. —After 32 years on a lonely Pacific island, Father Adolf Vocat, a Roman Catholic, priest, decided to see how the world was getting on and visited his native town of Vallais, in Switzerland. Finding everything so changed he is now gladly making his way back to the island where he will stay, he said, "until the natives bury me there." From what he had seen of the outside world, Father Vocat had only one other comment: "I am sorry my name is Adolf."
