CRUSADE FOR PEACE
APPEAL RY THE POPE PRAYERS AT ST. PETER'S CHURCH A crusade of prayer for peace among nations will be undertaken by Catholic churches throughout the world this month, following an appeal by the Pope, who has asked Catholic bishops to have special prayers said in every diocese. On Sunday, at St. Peter's Church, Cambridge, the Rev. Father Sheet y read a message from Bishop Liston, Catholic Bishop of Auckland, in. which the form of prayers to be said during the month was detailed. The crusade will end on Sunday, May 28, when special devotions will be held in every church in the diocese.
"The wishes of the Pope are for us a command that we receive with respect and thankfulness," stated the bishop's message. "The appeal links us with our fellow-Catholics in all lands—some like ourselves blessed with freedom in our faith, others in several countries suffering intensely and bravely because of their loyalty to God. It unites us also with men of goodwill everywhere, the great multitudes of men who crave for peace in their possessions and with their fellowmen."
