• PATE OF UNKNOWN MAN EFFORTS TO IDENTIFY . All efforts on the part of the Can.; bridge and Hamilton police to establish the identity of the man whose body was recovered from toe Waikato River on January 21, have so tar proved fruitless. , It will be recalled that the body was first seen on the south, side ol the High Level Bridge at 4.80 p.m. on January 20. As the hands and foot were tied with twine there was a suggestion of foul play, but this theory lias now been definitely discarded. In order to assist in the man’s idea-' itfication the Hamilton police have now made available a detailed description of him. It is considered the body had been in the water about five, weeks. Description of Man He was a man of between 50 and liO years of age, 51:t Sin in height . ot strqng build, clean-shaven, and probably bald. He had no teeth when found. The man was dressed in groy trousers and coat, but no waistcoat, white woollen underpants, a brown striped shirt, white woollen singlet, suspenders atul lark woollen sox with large holes in them. He had a soilstriped collar, cut in two, around his toes. The shoes wore black, size 8. arid had recently been re-sulcd. Tattooed on his right forearm on the

inside was what appeared to be; an .Irish iliarp. Another tntTpwjhark nearer the -wrist was not recognisable. On the outside of 'the right forearm a horse-shoe with flower scroll a round-'it were tattooeu. On the right upper arm an eagle, snake, flowers and loses were tattooed. (Mi the left forearm on the outside there was a butterfly, an American flag, eagle and shield. The only articles found in his possession were a blade razor in case, spectacles in case, white liaia.Ted po/ 1 .- ket-knife • with two blades, piece off shaving soap, and rosary beads wit'll cross around neck.
