THE ROSE SHOW

TO-MORROW'S LOCAL FIXTURE. FINE EXHIBITION PE-SMISED. Held under the auspices of S. Andrew's Parish for many years past, the annual rose show and sale of work will be held in the Town Hall to-morrow (Friday), and the prospects point to it being a very successful fixture. The entries are very satisfactory, and with the season a good one for tho recognised queen of flowers, the exhibition promises to be, at least, up to the high standard set in previous" years. In addition to the display of roses and other cut flowers and decorative exhibits, the usual sale of work will be held. There will be a number of stalls where the handiwork of the Ladies' Guild members and others will be on sale. Other useful products will also be available. This year the proceeds of the show will go towards the Jubilee iund for the debt extinction and the Parish Hall building. The show will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the evening there will be musical and other attractions. The official opening will take place at 2.30 p.m., and the Vicar Archdeacon G. Gordon Bell, will officiate. This year the judges are as follows: Cut flowers, Mr J. Bateson, Hamilton. Decorative section, Mrs Douglas, Hamilton. The committee and all associated have gone to much trouble to arrange for this year's show and it is. to be hoped their efforts will once again be liberally supported. It should be noted that all exhibits for judging should be staged before 9 a.m. on Friday. SUMMER FLOWERS. THE HAMILTON SHOW. The Hamilton Horticultural Society's Summer Show, -which opened on Tuesday was a marked success and in all classes there were good entries that went to make the magnificent display. Mrs H. L. Nixon and Mrs W. Mimroe, of Cambridge, were the judges of the decorative classes. Mrs E. J. White, of Hautapu. secured two first awards and a second in the rose section, and in the classes for sweet peas, Mrs White was awarded one first, three seconds and a third, while in the cut flowers she secured two second prizes and a third.
