MATCHES AT MATANGI.

CAMBRIDGE'S TRIPLE DEFEAT

There was a large attendance of polo enthusiasts and the general public at the Matangi ground on Saturday afternoon when three teams from the Cambridge Club played the local representatives, the former sustaining a triple defeat.

The first match was between Cambridge C and Matangi D, Cambridge being represented by B. Nolan, G. Porritt, G. Rose and K. Butler. The home players were too good and ran out Winers by 7 goals to 1. The match for the Somers Cup between Cambridge B and Matangi C was a well contested one, the latter winning and retaining the trophy by 4 goals to 2. In this match Cambridge was represented by N. Brown, G. Vosper, R. Speake and N. Garland. The Cameron Cup. Cambridge A,' represented by W. Fisher, A. Fisher, J. Butler, R. G. Blenncrhassett, had high hopes of wresting back from Matangi the coveted Cameron Cup, but here again they were disappointed for the holders were victorious by 4 goals to 2. On the whole of the game there was not a great deal in it in the matter of play, Matangi combining a M'Mi better, if anything. The grass on the playing .field was a bit too long for gir-.l polo, and t.his appeared to afl!cei L t.'io Cambridge shooting more fan the local.?.
