EMP IRE FARMERS

VISIT CAMBRIDGE TO-MORROW

LUNCHEON AT BOWLING PAVILION.

To-morrow (Wednesday), Cambridge is to have a rather unique visit when a representative party of farmers from Britain and from the far away African colonies will arrive in the district in continuation of their tour of the Dominion. Owing to the unfortunate quarantining of the Aorangi, it is very doubtful whether the Canadian party will be included. They may miss the Waikato tour, but will join the party later, and it is now anticipated that it will be sooner than at first anticipated. The party of Empire Farmers, somewhere in the region of 150 strong, will arrive at Frankton this (Tuesday) evening. On Wednesday at 8.45, cars (including about 12 Cambridge district motorists) will leave the Hamilton railway station for Morrinsville. At. 11.45 the visitors will leave Morrinsville for Matangi, where the Glaxo factory will be inspected. The party will leave Matangi about 12.45 and will be in Cambridge for lunch at 1.15 p.m. The party is scheduled to leave Cambridge again at 3 p.m. for afternoon tea at Ruakura at 3.30, which Will be the final function of the day. Although the visit to Cambridge is very short, complete arrangements are being made to ensure that the visitors make the most of their time while they are here. The luncheon arrangements are in the hands of a very representative district ladies' committee headed by the deputy-Mayoress, Mrs. W. G. Care. The luncheon will be prepared in the Bowling Club's pavilion and will be served in the open round the band rotunda, and with the weather fine, it should be a very happy meal. Prior to luncheon the visitors will be officially welcomed by the deputy-Mayor, Mr. W. G. Care, in the absence of the Mayor and Mayoress, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Priestly. Mr. F. Lye, M.P., and a representative of the Farmers' Union will also be invited to be associated with the official welcome, but it is. intended that the speeches of welcome shall be short so that the visitors can have a period as long as possible to chat with farmers and local residents. So that the attendance of local residents may be as representative as possible, business people have been invited to close their premises from noon to 2 p.m. and it is to be hoped that the business people will fall in with the suggestion.
