MISMANAGEMENT.
(To the Editor.)
SirLast week pamphlets were distributed amongst the children advertising a matinee at the Town Hall, and admission 6d. When they arrived at the Hall they were told that'this was a misprint and that the price was 1/-. Now, Sir, does the Manager mean to say that he allowed these bills to be circulated without satisfying himself that they were correct ? Whether he did or not, having allowed them to be given out, he should have abided by his mistake, and he certainly had no right to demand more than the advertised price. Many people, and some who could not afford it, paid the extra rather than break faith with their children. They, I consider, have a moral if not a legal right, to demand a refund of the extra sixpences.
Thanking you for valuable space, I am, etc., DISGUSTED
Leamington, 24/2/30.
(We have interviewed the manager on the subject matter of the letter, and we are quite satisfied that a misprint did occur, for the circular, while showing the price of admission for children at 6d, also states that "Ordinary Matinee Prices" will be charged. The manager further states that no child who came unattended, and with only sixpence, was refused admittance, though the parents of children were informed that the "6d" was a misprint and were charged the ordinary matinee prices.—Ed., Ind<e.
