LEAMINGTON CONCERT

A METHODIST EFFORT. SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. Entertainments are not very frequently given in Leamington, but, as a rule, the support accorded local efforts is generous. This provided the.ease on Thursday night last, when a concert was held at the Leamington Hall with the object of raising funds to assist in the renovation of the interior of the Leamington Methodist Church. There was a capital attendance, and a large and well-varied programme, including a number of items by performers seldom heard in the district, was greatly appreciated. Practically every item was encored. It was a jnost enjoyable concert.

Following is full programme: Over' turc, Duke ox Cambridge Oddfellows' orchestra; song, Mr Clare; pianoforte duets, Misses Jessie and Lucy Tripp; song, Miss Mary Attwood; instrumental solo, steel guitar, Mr L, Parker; humorous song, Mr Win. Weatherell; quartette brass instruments, Cambridge! Band party; violin solo, Mrs F. Chatfield; instrumental item, Oddfellows' orchestra; song Mr Frank Penn; dance Miss Eileen Holmes; song, Miss Gladys Bnttain; recitation, Mr ML Patterson; song, Mr Maunder; violin solo, Mrs F. Chatlield; comic song, Mr Win. Weatherell, .

The accompaniments were played by Mrs Backhouse, kiss Mary Attwood, and Miss Marjorie Penn. Mr ■ Robt. Webber, in returning thanks for the performers and others for donations, etc., stated; that the Methodist Church had recently been re-painted, and that night's'efforts was in aid of renovating the interior of the building. Mr Webber gave a cordial invitation to any who were not definitely linked up with any church to attend the Methodist services at Leamington.

Supper was served at the close of the programme, and brought to a conclusion a pleasant evening.
