PLUNKET SOCIETY

MONTHLY MEETING. RESULT OF APPEAL, The usual monthly meeting of, the committee was held on . Thursday last, when thore were present: Mesdames T. F. Richards, J. W. Peake, F. Swayne, Booth, C. Hunter, H. D. Dallimore, P. T, Glanville, Porritt and Miss Hooker. Owing to the illness of her father Nurse Parker is on leave, and as thero is no relieving nurse available until April 19tli. the Hamilton nurses are helping us temporarily. The annual meeting was arranged for May sth. Complimentary reference was madere the recent Plunket appeal, and the committee, are very grateful to all who responded so generously. The nett result to date is £9O, which with a few promises still to' collect, it is hoped to bring near the £IOO required. Collected in town and borough by town members of committee, £4B 1/9; Roto-o-rangi (Mr Peake), £9 C 5/; Leamington (Mrs Garland), £8; Fericourt (Mrs Swayne), £6 18/6; Fencourt (Mrs, Ross), £5 5/; Pukeroro (Mrs Porritt), £3 8/6; French Pass and Whitehall (Mrs Cox), £4 4/; Hautapu (Mrs Glanville), £2 5/3; Monavale (Mrs Richards), £2 2/6; Horahora (Mrs Campbell), 15/6; Ivarapiro (Mrs Glanville), 11/6. Nurse’s Report. Plunket Nurse Parker reported for the month of March as under:— The work continues satisfactorily in Cambridge and the out-stations. The attendance at the rooms has been rather less this month, bad weather on several occasions being- the cause. The health of the mothers and babies has been good. Some babies in each place this month have had attacks of vomiting and slight diarrhoea, but there have been no seridus cases. Amount of emulsion sold during month, 311bs. The following is a brief summary of the feeding of the babies attending the rooms:— Cambridge, breast fed 8, breast and artificial "• 2 r artificial 9; Matamata, 6—2—6; Morrinsville, 12— 5 —6. Children of nine months and more: Cambridge, 12; Matamata, 10;, Morrinsville, 12. New cases for the month:—Matamata, mothers 4, babies 4; Morrinsville, 5 —5. Visits paid to homes: Cambridge, 36. Visitors to the rooms: Cambridge, adults 64, babies 47, children 18; Matamata, 37—84—1; Morrinsville, 65—58 —4; total, adults 166, babies 142, children 23; grand total 331.
